Come
join the 'Locals' for a great dinner
Fiddler's Green Oceanside Bar & Grille. |
| Fiddler's Green is an old seafaring term used to denote a sailors paradise - heaven or, as Webster defines it; "The imagined Elysian field of sailors and vagabond craftsmen, where credit is good and there is always a lass, a glass, and a song."A sailor who died, and was known to have enjoyed such pleasures in his life, was often said to have gone to Fiddlers Green. We will be ordering from the menu and each person will be responsible for their meal. |

History
Of The Homestead Resturant
|
||
| The Homestead Restaurant is a two story pine
log building constructed in 1934. It is located along one of Jacksonville's
major traffic highways. Originally designed for use as a private residence,
the building has housed The Homestead restaurant since the late 1940s. The original owner of The Homestead restaurant was Ms. Alpha O. Paynter. She sold the establishment in 1962 to Preben and Nina Johansen, the parents of the current owner, Kathy Marvin. They owned The Homestead from 1962 to 1975 when they sold it to Carmen Macri. Along with owning the Homestead, Preben and Nina Johansen were also developing what would become a tradition of unique oceanfront dining with Le Chateau. Le Chateau was a family owned restaurant on the oceanfront in Atlantic Beach. The Johansen family operated Le Chateau from 1959 to 1982. In 1990, Kathy, followed in her father's footsteps and opened First Street Grille, an oceanfront restaurant in Jacksonville Beach. Malcolm and Kathy brought The Homestead back into the family after purchasing it from the Macri family in March of 2002.
